Mandolin made by Ioannis Gompakis, with a string length of 334 mm. It has 8 mechanical keys with round heads made of bone and an equal number of metal strings divided into 4 groups (2+2+2+2). The 4 thinner strings are plain, while the rest are wound. Its body is made of maple (kelebeki) and consists of 19 ribs and 2 side ribs. The instrument has: a wooden bridge followed by a fret, an ebony fingerboard with 22 frets and 2 inlaid disc-shaped finger placement guides made of shell, plain wooden bindings, a plastic pickguard (made of celluloid) in tortoise shell imitation, a wooden saddle with a fret on top and a metal string holder with 4 heads. The instrument has a printed label of the instrument-maker on the inside (only 3 letters are visible: “ΙΩΑ”), which for the most part is covered by a note from the buyer, that reads: “Το θαυμάσιο αυτό όργανο το / κατασκεύασε ο αριστοτέχνης / Ι. On the manufacturer's label, the following details are crudely written: “Απρίλιος 1914”, perhaps also a note from the buyer.
