Mandocello made by Dimitrios Mourtzinos, with a string length of 588 mm. It has 8 mechanical keys with round heads made of bone and an equal number of metal wound strings divided into 4 groups (2+2+2+2). Its body is made of rosewood and consists of 29 ribs and 2 side ribs. The instrument has: a bone bridge, an ebony fingerboard with 20 frets played with the fingers, 7 inlaid disc-shaped finger placement guides made of shell, plain and mosaic wooden bindings, circumflex-shaped elements made of shell around the ellipsoidal sound hole, a tortoise shell pickguard, a wooden saddle with a fret on top and a metal string holder with 4 heads. The pickguard is decorated with a vegetal pattern and a lyra in the centre. The lyra, leaves and flowers are made of shell, and the branches are made of silver. Inside the body, there is a printed paper label in the shape of a lyra, reading: “ΟΡΓΑΝΟΠΟΙΕΙΟΝ / ΔΗΜ. ΜΟΥΡΤΖΙΝΟΥ / ΕΝ ΑΘΗΝΑΙΣ 67 ΟΔΟΣ ΚΟΛΟΚΟΤΡΩΝΗ”. The label also features designs of medals, musical instruments (guitar, mandolin and lyre), as well as a child with wings holding a musical score and a stick with a harlequin head on top.
