Violin
Violin manufactured in Germany, 600 mm in length. It has a headstock with 4 wooden keys and a sculpted scroll. It has 4 metal strings, an ebony fingerboard, a wooden bridge and saddle, 2 "f" shaped sound holes, inlaid wooden bindings around the top and back, a plastic string holder with 4 micro- tuning mechanisms and a chin rest. The saddle bears the signature of the instrument-maker Nikolaos Bra who undertook the restoration of the instrument. Inside the resonator, there is a paper label with printed manufacturing data: “Copy of Antonius Stradiuarius / made in Germany” and a handwritten inscription of the year: “1716”. On the back of the instrument, there is the branded seal of the instrument-maker Ioannis Stathopoulos, who probably traded the violin. Under the branded seal, there is a handwritten name and year: “Νικόλαος ΚΑΣΤΡΙΩΤΗΣ / 1864”, possibly referring to the owner of the violin and his year of birth.
