Mandolin with a string length of 330 mm. It has 8 mechanical keys with plastic round heads and an equal number of metal strings divided into 4 pairs (2+2+2+2). The 4 thinner strings are plain, while the rest are wound. Its body consists of 27 ribs and 2 side ribs. The instrument has: a bridge made of a fret with a bone guide, a fingerboard with 24 frets (one is missing) for use by the fingers and 5 inlaid shell finger placement guides, simple wooden bindings, mosaic around the top, an ellipsoidal sound hole, a black plastic pickguard with inlaid plastic and shell decoration consisting of a plant design, a wooden saddle with bone on top and a metal string holder with 8 hooks. There is a printed paper label with the deisgn of an eagle inside the body, reading: “ESTUDIANTINA / CASA FONDATA NEL 1872 / CATANIA VIA NINO MARTOGLIO 3 / ESPORTAZIONE MONDIALE / FABBRICA ITALIANA MANDOLINI e CHITARRE / TELEF. 14-17”. On the top, there is an impressed inscription with a design of an eagle and the details: “ESTUDIANTINA / CATANIA”. The instrument is accompanied by a hard case, in the form of a suitcase.
