Mandolin made by Vinaccia, with a string length of 334 mm. It has 8 mechanical keys with ellipsoidal bone heads and an equal number of metal strings divided into 4 pairs (2+2+2+2). The 4 thinner strings are plain, while the rest are wound. Its body is made of “wavy” maple (kelebeki) and consists of 25 ribs and 2 side ribs. The instrument has: a bone bridge, an ebony fingerboard with 17 frets and 3 inlaid finger placement guides made of shell, plain wooden bindings, flower-shaped elements made of shell around the ellipsoidal sound hole, a pickguard in tortoise shell imitation, a wooden saddle with a fret on top and a metal string holder with 4 heads. The headstock is perforated near its top, while at its base, on the back side, a triangular decorative shell element is visible. Inside the resonator, there is a printed label that reads: “FLLI GENRO […] VINACCIA FU PLE / Fabbricanti d’ instrumenti armonici / di SM, la[...]INA D’ ITALIA / P[…]a Catalana No 53 / NAPOLI / ANNO 1892”
