IMPROVISED LYRA WITH BOW;
Athanasios Kalountas
10/2013
350 cm x 142 cm x 60 cm (Lyra body height: 51 mm, bow length: 414 mm.)
Representation of a pear-shaped lyra, with 3 strings made of thread, 350 mm in length. It is made from the trunk of a herbaceous plant, probably giant fennel. It was possibly created by a child, without being functional. Its strings are tied to screws, and it has rudimentary wooden saddles. The representation is decorated with metal rings and shallow holes (some painted) on the front and sides. There are carvings and engravings on its back, in random formations. Its bow is made of a simple bent rod. There thread instead of hair on the bow and two round bells are hanging from it.
